6. The Supremes

While they had a controversial transformation whilst they were in action from an incredible trio to a group consisting of a fabulous lead with 2 incredible back up singers, it goes without saying, The Supremes will go down in history as one of the most inspirational girl bands of all times. They recorded 12 US number 1’s between 1964 and 1969 and you can still feel their influence in the girl groups that have followed after them. One of the founding members, Florence Ballard, passed away at age 32 due to cardiac arrest and that was a very sad day in rock’n’roll history! So its no wonder the remaining three women, now aged 79-80 at the time of writing this post have made their mark in showbiz. In 1988, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While they have a Hollywood star as a group, Ross has achieved a lot of solo success, which earned her a star of her own.
